Is a server "in Japan" the same as a server in Tokyo?
For bare metal, nearly always: every one of the 22 hosts selling dedicated servers in Japan offered Tokyo. Only two also named Osaka, Vultr among them. People type "Japan dedicated server" and "cheap dedicated server Japan"; Google offered no completion at all for "Tokyo dedicated server" when we checked.
6 hosts sold a Tokyo server that took crypto without ID and passed our checks: a 2018-or-later CPU, a 1 Gbit/s port, 10 TB of traffic, one IPv4 address and monthly billing.
RedSwitches listed 9 Tokyo builds, from €250 for a 4-core Xeon E-2374G. Its EPYC 7302P with 64 GB cost €354. Crypto goes only through Cryptomus.
Vultr sold an 8-core, 128 GB box for $350.00, at the price it charges everywhere. Crypto runs through BitPay, without USDT.
KoDDoS had an EPYC 9374F with 384 GB and a 10 Gbit/s port in stock for $620.00. Most of its Tokyo Ryzen boxes were sold out.
MonoVM, 1Gbits and Anubiz Host also passed, at higher Tokyo prices.
Cherry Servers lists Tokyo models but showed zero units of each. Leaseweb, Psychz Networks, DataPacket and OneProvider sell in Tokyo without crypto. Hivelocity and Latitude.sh take crypto but verify accounts before use. Server.HK and Dataplugs sell Tokyo lines below 1 Gbit/s, with China routes on offer.

Why does Tokyo cost more than Hong Kong at most hosts?
Tokyo was the dearest of the three cities at almost every host that prices by city. MonoVM's EPYC 7302 cost $191.00 in Singapore and $478.00 in Tokyo, $343 over its base price. Ultahost adds $80 for Tokyo and caps the line at 250 Mbit/s. RedSwitches' cheapest Tokyo box cost €250, against €189 in Hong Kong. Its Xeon E-2286G build cost €251 in Hong Kong and €354 in Tokyo.
Some hosts keep one price. KoDDoS charged $620.00 for the EPYC 9374F in both Hong Kong and Tokyo, and Vultr has a single global price. Copperstrait works the same way: Hong Kong, Singapore and Tokyo (Japan): every server in every city, at the same price. Every surcharge we recorded is listed in What is the cheapest dedicated server hosting in Asia?
Who should choose Tokyo over Hong Kong or Singapore?
Of our three ports, Tokyo is the nearest on the map to every part of Japan and to South Korea. Map distance is a first filter, not a latency figure. We publish no latency or speed figures of our own: we have not measured them. Test from where your users are once the server is yours.

Can I pay for a Japanese server with Bitcoin or USDT?
